Mission Statement
We wish Hendal Primary School to be a caring school, which is outward-looking and intellectually stretching for children of all abilities. We aim to make the children literate and numerate, to develop enquiring minds and to promote independent learning. We wish to foster academic and personal development in a challenging and supportive environment so that each individual can achieve his or her full potential. The school should be a community where all children and staff alike are valued for their individual talents and are encouraged and supported, where appropriate, to develop so that the school community benefits as a whole.
We aim to develop an ethos where all children feel happy, safe, stimulated and motivated. All our children should know they are accepted as individuals and that their experiences, personality and ambitions are valued. They should know that they belong to the school community as well as to their school class and that we expect them to aim high; do their best and achieve the highest standard for them. They should feel a commitment to the values of honesty, tolerance, respect and co-operation, and have an understanding of appropriate behaviour.
The school aims to create an environment where children can be happy through constant encouragement - praise is very important. We also encourage good relationships between home and school.
To achieve this the staff and governors have a commitment to:
•Equality of opportunity
•Planning learning activities which are matched to individual needs
•Maintaining a safe, clean and stimulating environment
•Welcoming all children, parents and visitors
•Developing the school grounds as an important part of the local community
