We have a fantastic range of sports on offer at Hendal Primary. Before school every day, weather permitting, Key Stage Two children take part in Wake up, Shake up - and some staff and parents, too! This is a great way to start the day.

Key Stage One children participate in Fitbods at lunchtime, and thoroughly enjoy developing their games skills .

Mrs Kaye and Mrs Byrnes run our regular sports clubs in Key Stage Two, training a range of sports skills, and ensuring that we are able to enter teams for local sporting events.

We are very proud of their achievements, and foster strong team spirit, and fair play. Indeed, we regularly receive recognition at events for the standard of Fair Play demonstrated by our teams.

Mrs Wood also runs a variety of sports taster sessions, which are open to lower Key Stage Two, and Year Two children. It is a great way of them finding their strengths before the long-term commitment of a team.

We have a range of activities on offer for our children, besides sports. Miss Rooke has a Drama club, at present for Year Six. We also have a school choir, of which we are very proud. During the year, short clubs are run for Chess, ICT, Art, Dance, Gardening, Crafts and anything else that the children show an interest in, as appropriate.
Naturally, our extra-curricular work is not purely after school or lunchtime clubs. We are very keen to bring people in to school who have expertise upon which we can draw. We also take our pupils out of school to give them first-hand experinces. We have two residential visits per year - Years 3 and 4 go to Hornsea residential centre for a week, and Years 5 and 6 go to and activity centre for a long weekend.
